Cigar manufacturer UTP again among the 25 ‘Best Companies to work for’
Cigar manufacturer United Tobacco Processing (Pvt.) Ltd., a sister company of the Belgian J. Cortès that is the hands of the Vandermarliere family was recently awarded the ‘Best companies to work for 2017’ label in Sri Lanka. UTP was granted the same recognition last year.
The ‘Best Companies to work for’ label is an initiative of the Great Place to Work® institute, which operates worldwide across 46 countries. The annual study of Great Place to Work® Sri Lanka is based on data of 16,000 employees working in 15 industries and is carried out in cooperation with business magazine LMD and the Chamber of Commerce. In the study, companies are rated on the basis of 2 scores: the Trust Index©, anonymous feedback from the employees and the Culture Audit©, which assesses the human resources policy. Trust is the most important ingredient for a happy work environment. Companies that are listed as Great Workplace show better financial results, easily attract new employees and manage to keep these employees for a longer time.
For this study, surveys were carried out among the over 2000 UTP employees.
